Every physical gemstone submission is examined at ICA GemLab’s main laboratory in Bangkok. Review the process before dispatching any loose stone or mounted jewel.
Start a submissionEstimated turnaround
Turnaround starts on the first business day after physical receipt, acceptance and registration in Bangkok. International trade fairs, complex findings or additional testing may extend these estimates. Express service is available on request, subject to confirmation.
Gemstone identification, natural/synthetic or imitation determination, and precise weight and dimensions where the specimen permits.
Investigation of detectable heating, glass or resin filling, irradiation and diffusion treatment using appropriate analytical methods.
An expert opinion on geographic origin based on converging microscopic, spectroscopic and trace-element evidence.
Individually scoped documentation for exceptional, historically significant or particularly rare gemstones and jewels.
The submission route
Provide the material, approximate weight, loose or mounted condition, requested analyses, declared value and required date.
The automatic confirmation email provides the verified Bangkok delivery address and core shipping requirements. Wait for the laboratory to confirm acceptance, scope and routing before dispatch.
Use a specialist valuables courier with continuous door-to-door cover. Ordinary post and standard parcel services must not be used.
After physical receipt and condition control, the specimen is registered and the estimated turnaround begins on the next business day.
Receiving locations
Dubai, Hong Kong and Taipei are client service offices. They cannot accept, store or forward physical gemstones. Items addressed to these offices must be refused for security and customs reasons.
The confirmed receiving address is ICA GEM LABORATORIES COMPANY LIMITED, 919/7–8, 6th Floor, Jewelry Trade Center, Silom Road, Silom Sub-District, Bangrak District, Bangkok 10500, Thailand. It is also sent automatically after a successful online enquiry.
Loose or mounted
A loose stone permits accurate weighing and measurement and unrestricted observation of inclusions and surface features. Mounted gemstones can be examined in Bangkok, but metalwork may conceal evidence or restrict chemical analysis.
Where relevant, the report will record limitations such as an estimated weight or examination restricted by the setting.
Transport & insurance
The client bears the risk of loss, theft or damage during inbound and return transport. Use a specialist valuables courier—such as Ferrari Group, Malca-Amit or Brink’s—capable of providing continuous door-to-door insurance to Bangkok.
After successful intake and registration, laboratory custody is subject to ICA GemLab’s applicable custody insurance and the coverage limits confirmed for the submission. A declared value is not a laboratory valuation.
Customs & return
Customs documentation must clearly identify the contents as “Commercial Samples for Scientific Testing”. The client is responsible for correct declarations, permits, duties, taxes and temporary-import arrangements.
A Carnet ATA is strongly recommended where applicable and accepted by the relevant authorities. After analysis and payment, specimens are returned from Thailand by secured valuables courier, with the transport charge shown on the invoice.
